Call it durable, comfortable & energy efficient.
Call it Home, for short.
A green home can do more than help the environment. It can increase your home’s comfort and durability. It can help save you money through energy-saving features that can add up over time. And it can even provide you with potentially greater resale value.

The Environments For Living program provides a rigorous set of requirements for home builders who’ve made a commitment to go the extra mile. It’s a program that treats a home as a “system of systems” that work together, with limited guarantees* on comfort and heating/cooling energy use. And the Environments For Living Certified Green program adds even more benefits in areas like indoor environmental quality and indoor water conservation.
It’s all designed to give you a home you can be proud of.
In more ways than one.
Lennar Homes has joined the Environments For Living program to help you live a more environmentally friendly lifestyle without costing you more or requiring you to change your every day routine. It is just one way that Lennar Homes works to make your family more comfortable in an affordable, luxury design.
Building Science.
It’s all about building a better, greener home.
A home built under the Environments For Living program is an energy-efficient home that has been constructed using the principles of building science. What’s that, exactly? Building science is the discipline of looking at a house as an integrated system of systems that all work together, using advanced building techniques. And it requires a lot more effort on the part of your builder.

There are now more than 100,000 homes across the United States that have been constructed by builders under the Environments For Living program. The program starts with a pre-construction plan review of your builder’s plans to ensure compliance with the program’s stringent requirements. Much of what our program requires may seem to be things all builders should do, and things all homes should have. The surprising answer is that the conventional code-built homes today are not built to these specifications and do not offer these benefits.
Some of these building techniques have esoteric names like "air pressure balancing," but they deliver important results. A lot of our program requirements cover things inside the walls, so you can’t actually see them. But you’ll experience the difference, in key areas like indoor environmental quality, durability and comfort.

Our flagship level, the Environments For Living Certified Green program, includes more environmentally beneficial features and benefits, such as indoor water efficiency and appliance and lighting efficiency.
The program offers your builder different levels of participation. No matter which level your builder chooses, your home will have many distinct advantages over homes that are constructed to meet conventional code requirements. And for each Masco Home Services offers you, the homeowner, limited guarantees on heating and cooling energy use, and comfort. We’re able to offer these guarantees because our program specifications make your home work as a system. Guaranteed performance. It’s another benefit you’ll get with an Environments For Living home that goes beyond the ordinary.
Your new Lennar home will perform better in these key areas:

✓ Tight Construction
With the Environments for Living program, homes are built with framing techniques, energy-efficient glass and better insulation to create a continuous air barrier to remove any leaks in the building envelope. This brings better energy performance and comfort for you and your family.
✓ Fresh Air Ventilation
Fresh air is an important part of your life. Equipment brings fresh air to your home and removes dust, pollen and pollution, which provides a better mix of air for your family.
✓ Improved Thermal Systems
An improved thermal system is the key component to an energy-efficient home. A combination of better quality windows and proper R-value insulation help the home become better at keeping heating and cooling inside, reducing electric costs.
✓ Improved HVAC Equipment
The HVAC equipment is sized to the home and duct connections are properly sealed to help prevent air loss. This can save up to 50 percent in heating and air conditioning costs for the homeowner while creating a less than 3 percent chance of ductwork leakage.
✓ Pressure Balancing
Pressure balancing helps air circulate easier, even when interior doors are closed. Your air conditioning system will operate more efficiently and rooms will have more consistent temperatures.
✓ Internal Moisture Management
In Florida’s sub-tropical climate, moisture is an issue. With a combination of proper HVAC equipment, pressure balancing and fresh air ventilation, moisture is reduced in the home, which prevents mold growth and improves air quality.
✓ Combustion Safety
Appliances in the air-conditioned air space are designed for combustion safety and are sealed or power-vented, which helps to avoid back-drafting and build-up of carbon monoxide. EFL® Program Homes are issued limited guarantees on comfort and heating/cooling energy use.
Lennar homes built under the environments for living program are issued limited guarantees on comfort and A/C energy use
Masco Home Services is able to offer the limited guarantee on energy used for heating and cooling your home because the combination of special framing techniques, improved insulation systems and efficient ductwork helps manage the energy you use to heat and cool your home. And, those same building techniques help ensure that you won’t experience a comfort problem — for example, a bonus room or bedroom that never seems to get warm enough in winter or cool enough in summer.

Following is a summary of the two limited guarantees:
Heating and Cooling Energy Use Limited Guarantee* Masco Home Services guarantees the original homeowner that the energy used to heat and cool the home (as calculated in the account analysis) will not exceed the guaranteed usage listed on the front of the limited guarantee, subject to the terms of the limited guarantee. Since this is a limited guarantee of energy use and not cost, any reference to dollar amounts is strictly an estimate and actual costs will vary with the cost of energy.
Comfort Limited Guarantee* Masco Home Services guarantees the original homeowner that the temperature at the location of the thermostat in the home will not vary more than +/- 3 degrees from the temperature at the center of any conditioned room within that thermostat zone. If the home has a room that does not meet this limited comfort guarantee, Masco Home Services will reasonably assist your builder to identify the reason(s) for the temperature variance and reasonably coordinate with your builder to have it make changes or modifications to your home. Your home is special. And not just because it’s yours.
Congratulations! If you own an Environments For Living home, your builder has committed to build your home according to the principles of building science, which treats the structure as an integrated system of systems, not just individual spaces. It also has many energy-efficient features, with numerous benefits compared with a conventional code-built home.
